One more. I forgot to put this in my last post earlier today. I love this one. It's in L's room as a 5x7 next to a super close up 8x10 of her adorable face and smile and teeth and crinkled nose. Might as well include said picture since it's so stinkin' cute. :o)

L's first birthday. She is delicious. And every time I put her down, we look around her room at all the pictures, and she gets such a kick out of it.

Random Prints

Here are some of the fun things I've been doing lately. Comment, email or call for design quotes. Most of them are just $10 for the digi-files, but if you want a whole bunch, or if you want them professionally printed, we'll need to chat. :o)

State & Country Art. For several people. I ended up with different colors in my kitchen, but I have AZ and WY in my kitchen, size 11 x 14, printed with a linen texture finish. I love them. I'd give a nice discount for multiple states/countries ordered. Colors are completely customizable.

For Kelsey's Mission. Peru, Chiclayo. Love it. I love the chevron stripes in this one. And she loves green.

For Mimi & Papa. Their kids live in three different states AND Germany! I love this print. I printed it as an 8x10. I think it deserves to be a bit bigger, but we'll see.

For my laundry room. Love this. I need a good mud picture. It would show more "dirty laundry" as you can see the girls' clothing isn't all that dirty... I just need to get a mud pic. Someday...

Crown. Designed for C & A's room, but ended up in L's. In a pink 5x7 frame from Ikea. Super simple. Very cute. This one would only be $2 for the digi-file.

For my kitchen, printed at a 12x12. Hopefully you can see the light cream diagonal stripes in the background. I love this.

For my sister who loves to have me recreate random posters and prints she sees on Pinterest. I love it too. This one hasn't found a home on my wall, and I'm not sure I'll ever have a place for it, but we'll see. :o) I think it's super cute. My copycat designs always end up different, but I sometimes enjoy finding the initial idea/quote. Currently formatted to 8 x 10.

Oh, man. Designing that ice cream poster made me CRAVE ice cream! I'm going to have to hit the store tomorrow... YUM.

Four Months Old

Seriously. Love this hair. And love her momma too. :o) I was so happy to be in Utah last week at the same time as my big sis, Deb. Her littles are adorable. I took pics of the big bro too, and they'll be up soon. I also photographed my other nieces and nephew who live in the SLC area, and their pics are also scrumptious. And coming soon. Stay tuned.

This is the niece who gets the lovely sunshine print in her room-to-be.

Still, can you handle all that hair???? She came out like that. Delicious.

My husband told me today that I am crazy.

As if I needed anyone to verify that one. Ha ha.

I was supposed to be working on my math classes. He was watching the kids so I could work on my math classes. I DID work on the math classes, but I also needed a little break. :o) He walked in on this...

I have an old empty 8x20 frame that is missing its glass. I designed this for it to go in the kids' play area. Loving it. Now to find a glass cutter in my itty bitty city.

So the squares and the numbers and the centering took a bit of time... Totally worth it because I'm totally in love. It's formatted for an 8x20, which isn't all that common, but if you want a digital copy, it's yours (and yours alone, no sharing!) for $10.

P.S. My husband LOVES this. He even said it was worth the time I spent on it today. Score. :o)

And I found a super cheap ($4? and very plastic) 20x30ish poster frame at Ikea this week in UTAH (I wish Ikea were closer, but it's probably good that it isn't). I wanted it in my kids' play area. I designed this for it, and very quickly, so I'm not sure the design will stick. I have to fester over it for a few days. Ha ha. I'll post the final result when I send it in to be printed.

I was inspired by a few alphabet walls on my sister's Pinterest that I know I will not probably have a chance to recreate in my playroom. (sniff, sniff, woe is me). Maybe in the next house... Anyway, all my cute yummy designs are just $10 for the digital files. If you want something custom, PLEASE send me your thoughts and ideas and let me see what I can dream up for you. Fun times. Speaking of time...A & C are starting preschool soon. Should free up more time than I could ever have imagined for myself. Wow. Projects, here I come!

I didn't know this senior until our shoot. I was so happy with the way things went! He was so fun. It was seriously a blast to shoot him. He was a perfect little model, and his mom was hilarious. I loved seeing them interact. They were such good friends. We all laughed the entire time.

It was his idea to drape his track shoes there, which led us to spread out the athletic equipment. So cool. I love when my clients have amazing ideas and care about their shoot! I instantly loved the idea, and I think it turned out great!

I honestly can't believe how long it's been since I've posted on this blog. I'm embarrassed, but I'm completely justified, so whaddya do? :o)

Here is a family picture I took for the holidays. My girlfriend's youngest was d.o.n.e. with this photo shoot. There are a lot of other great pictures, but this one might be my favorite. I'll post more later. How can you not LOVE their outfits, the location, their cuteness...

I have had a hard time getting enough time and energy to shoot, edit, and post this new little thing. Here are a few more!

My little burrito. This little blanket was sent to me by a mission companion. I'm in love with the blankets she sends (I have six now because she sends me two every time I have a baby!), and I'm especially in love with this one! I think it is gorgeous. And it's soooo soft! Yum. The edging around it makes me want to learn how to crochet. As soon as my mom gets home from Nepal, I'm going to have her teach me this art.

My personal favorite of the shoot. :o) Big bows on little heads make me happy. Still burrito-wrapped too. Bright-eyed and beautiful! LOVE THIS LITTLE THING!!!!

My sister-in-law, Auburn, came over this evening to take pictures of me with my three beautiful daughters. It was fun. I guess a young family just has to realize that family pictures from here on out are going to be challenging. At best. :o) Some families pull it off. Not mine. Ha ha. We had fun though.

Thank you Auburn for being willing to take these for me. I know you're only 31 1/2 weeks pregnant and really wanting to be on the floor photographing a crazy bunch of females...so thanks. You're the best! I know my man will love them!

Auburn got to have some fun with my studio. It's too hot to shoot outside these days, so we set up the studio. Studio shooting is actually really fun for me. I love shooting outside too, but not when it's 116 degrees outside.

The next picture is actually a miracle. No face-swapping was done on any of these!

When you see the next one, you might have a small clue of what we went through with Miss A. Even Claire was wondering what the heck was going on. Do you love Claire's eyes? Ha ha. I do.

I really love kissing my babies. Perhaps too much...

And after the wild animals went to bed, I took a few of Lanie. The studio is still up, so we might get lucky and have more pictures tomorrow! I've been a slacker on pictures of my own newborn.

This dress was sent to us by my sister, Deb. We LOVE it!

Miss Lanie is 3 weeks old now and we are loving every ounce of her! She is a great sleeper (thank goodness!) and puts up with all kinds of "love" from her sisters. Claire is soft and gentle and Alice is, well, Alice is soft and gentle sometimes. She means well. :o)

Ah, handsome lawyers. Check out how they aren't even sleepy-eyed at 6 AM!!! Seriously, we met at 6 AM and shot for an hour. Then I drove about 10-15 minutes out of the way to get Krispy Kreme donuts... Yum.

The first one here is the father of one of the five cousin seniors from this spring's graduation shoots! I love when families call me back. It makes me feel so good! :o)

Dancing Princess - Resonate Sneak Peek

Here is a sneak peek of the dance pictures I am working on. I love doing dance pictures. It's a bit of stress, and a lot of time, but I love these little dancers! And working in the studio is a little more predictable and posed than outdoors (which is good in this case with so many dancers)! I know the sneak peek just happens to be my favorites of my own child, but I couldn't resist. As the next couple of days happen, I'll be posting other kiddos too! :o)

The first one is in her "Move It, Move It" costume. When she first heard they were doing a dance to this song, she was ecstatic! She LOVES this song and the Madagascar movie her Uncle JR sent her last year! I can't wait to see the show!

I am so excited to see this dance next weekend! The daddies are all dancing with their little girls in a princess dance. The daddies are their princes. Can you handle the cuteness? Seriously!!!

How excited do you think I was to do senior pictures for Kristin's sister (seriously, Kristin was one of my very favorite weddings ever). Then, how much more excited was I that she is graduating with FOUR of her cousins, and they wanted to do their shoot all together? Wow! What cuties, all of them! And how on earth do you do a limited sneak peek for five seniors? So, that's why there are so many pictures here... :o)

They call them the 92's. Can you imagine having five cousins the same age AND in the same grade? We have three or four of each age on the Ellingson side, but they won't all be in the same grade. I bet it was CRAZY when they were all in diapers and toddlin' around! It's crazy now, and they're graduating from high school! :o)

Smiling baby. By the way, no faces were changed when editing these. These kids were being SO GOOD (all looking, all smiling, when does that happen?)! It was amazing. I thought my kids could use a few lessons on family photo-ing, and I only have TWO!

We did portraits of each child. Here is the littlest one! Can you believe that smile??? So cute! I'll get his brothers and sister up eventually!

Maggie's Sneak Peek

I've been slacking on my sneak peeks... I've been a bit out of it lately. I blame the pregnancy, but I think it goes a little deeper. It's hard to tell when you are sick for real or if it's just pregnancy sick. Anyway, I'm grateful for it if it means I get to have another one of these little things! My new baby better watch out. I actually know how to use my camera now (mostly), and it's going to be the most photographed newborn ever of life. All these babies are doing a number on me. I'm finally feeling hungry for the baby. Not the loss of "freedom", if you term it that. It's just gotten so easy to chill with the toddlers. Anyway, this is not about me, this is about Maggie. Let me tell you about Maggie.

My sister, Deb's husband, Dave's medical school roomie's wife is Stephanie. That's a mouthful. Deb and Stephanie have never met, but are good friends through email, blogs, common bond of medical school debt, etc. Debbie was telling me about how Stephanie & her hubby were here in Arizona--having been selected as the adoptive parents of a new little baby, but how their story was so inspiring. They have adopted one other little girl who is three now. They have been selected four times as the adoptive parents, but the birth moms have backed out last minute on two of them. It's amazing how many opportunities the birth mom has to change her mind and the roller coaster that sends the adoptive parents on. Adoption really is a miracle. It's fun to read Stephanie's blog because she is sort of an expert on adoption processes. This time she took it into her own hands and actually went through A LOT to find a birth mom on her own. The process takes so long if you put it in the hands of agencies. Well, Stephanie turned out to be a bit of a fan of Kristi Ellingson Photography, and because I was so inspired by her story, and because they happened to be in Arizona, I was thrilled to get to do some newborn photography for them.

The teddy bear is significant. They bought one for the birth mom too, so they can take pictures of her throughout her life to track how much she's grown, and the birth mom can look at the pictures and really be able to visualize how big the baby is. I think that's adorable. I'm sure the birth mom will appreciate that.

Thank you again Mimi for letting me impose in your amazing natural light studio {AKA your living room} and for keeping my girls entertained during the shoot. Sometimes newborn shoots can be long because of feedings, diaper changes, trying to get the cutie to go to sleep, etc. So, I really appreciate Mimi's patience through it all each time. THANK YOU!!!

Beautiful Baby

This is my newest niece. Isn't she beautiful? Eight days old! Some of the shots remind me of my own little A. I'm sort of starting to kind of get baby hungry. It's sort of taking awhile for me to feel that way. But it will come. :o) I love babies, don't get me wrong, but I'm not dying for one yet! Good thing I still have five and a half months! :o)

I can't really call it a sneak "peek", as it is TWENTY-ONE pictures, but hey, who's counting? She was too cute to resist!

Beautiful hat, made for my baby last year by Auntie Lara. So cute. I love having it for newborn shots! I need a boy one for the boys I photograph!

Mom, thanks for making my cocoon. I need a boy one now... I know you are on a mission in Nepal, but still... I need a boy one for all the little baby boys I photograph! :o)

She smiled SO MUCH throughout her shoot. She was asleep the whole time, too! No spit ups, no poops on the blankets, no crying. She was perfect. She must have been having visits from her little angel friends as she fell asleep. The smiles were so fun to capture!

This picture was actually taken AFTER the shoot, while she was just sleeping still in the good light of the living room. She's too perfect, wouldn't you say? I love watching babies sleep. They look so content, like the world really doesn't much matter yet.

If I am ever able to look this good EIGHT days after having a baby, I'll be one happy momma!

Beautiful Momma!

Every time I shoot at this location, I eye these bike rack rings. I've been dying to try out some kind of picture by them. I wasn't sure how I'd do it, but I wanted it. I am IN LOVE with this angle, the curves of the bike rack rings, and the framing they provide. IN LOVE. Doesn't hurt that the kiddos on the other side are smokin' adorable...

Can you handle the baby's face in this next one? And the big sister who feels so big that she gets to hold the baby all by herself! Wow! Not sure I'd let Claire do that, but this chica has about six months on Claire. Maybe when the new baby comes she'll be ready...

Scrumptious little boy. Every time I shoot families with little boys, I'm more convinced of how I need one of my own. And I see more and more just how much boys are boys and girls are girls. Crazy.

We're painting our house. You know how five-day projects often turn into a-lot-more-than-five-day projects? Well, thus it has been with our house (but it's no longer blue, woot!). So, my big amazing give away...it's still going to happen. Just not this week, as planned. Unless something happens tomorrow that gives me a few minutes to myself (not super likely, but could happen).

Any New Moon-ers out there? So, I am sort of a freak and saw it Thursday night, AND tonight again. First with friends, then tonight with my man. He loved it. I loved it. I love him for loving it. Anyway, random.

The giveaway will come on Monday most likely. My day is WIDE OPEN (as of now). Well, except that I have to finish taping for the rest of the paint. That should only take a couple of hours though. Yeah, right. Famous last words.

This is a little fancier, so I stuck wedding pictures on it from this summer. I'm in love. I just wish that I had these skills five years ago so I could have designed a killer wedding invitation for myself and four years ago when I could have stuck wedding pictures on a Christmas card. The next time I'll get to do that is for my 50th wedding anniversary card or something. Ha ha. Don't laugh at me if you get Christmas cards with my wedding pictures on them. I'm just loving this card. Her red flowers make it that much better for Christmas too!

Your sneak peek from our photo shoot today (Yes, today. I know, I couldn't resist their cuteness) is in the form of an insanely adorable new Christmas card design... It is designed to be a 5x7, but could be modified to fit any size I can print.

What a stud of a baby! I was DYING over his hat! I had so much fun photographing him. Such a boy. From someone with two girls, it is fun for me to see that there are definite differences, and they are so fun!

By the way, Amberly knows she's not married to a Jesse and her baby's name isn't Crew. I changed the names to protect the innocent. :o) Her last name isn't Openshaw either...

Isn't this girl gorgeous? And just looking at her, you can almost see what I know about her. She is sweet, humble, loving, fun, kind, talented, dedicated, healthy, spiritual, selfless, and giving. I just adore this girl! I was so lucky to get to go to her concert in Utah last month. Thanks to my amazing husband for letting me sneak away for a long weekend, and to Mimi for helping with the kids a bit while I was gallivanting. Insanely fun times!

If you haven't heard of these guys, you need to. They are awesome. They gave me a signed copy of their CD while I was there, and I'm in love with it. A very cool guy who has been friends with Kendra since Elementary or Junior High. He's got an amazing voice, and I love how he talks about his wife and new baby. He's very kind too. Bonus.

{ Mindy Gledhill }
A beautiful, sweet, friendly gal who has made a name for herself. I saw her in concert here in Mesa at a Benefit for Nie-Nie. She is very cute to watch. She's quirky and fun, and I love her music.

Oh, how I love David Archuleta. I'm a big fan. I'm so lucky to have been able to hang out with him a bit. He's adorable. He's so nice too. Actually, he's pretty amazing beyond even his voice and piano skills. He's got a personality and spirit that you don't see or meet everyday. He is only half human, the other half is angel. :o)

He did a surprise performance with Kendra at her concert. It was beautiful. She has been playing keyboards for him on his tours this year.

Have you seen a cuter wave goodbye at the end of a concert? Adorable.

Concert Photography - Kendra Lowe

I had the fun privilege of shooting an amazing concert for a good friend, Kendra Lowe at her concert last week in Provo, Utah! It was so fun to be up there for the weekend with her. It was a hecka busy trip, and I didn't see much of anyone while I was there, but I had SO MUCH FUN! Even if Kendra kept me up until 2, 2:30 and 4 AM on the three nights I was there. :o) I loved every minute of it!

I just have to give a shout out to my camera and the photog class I took that taught me a ton! I wish I would have had that knowledge when I had the media pass at David Archuleta's concert back in March! That one was a disgrace! Actually, I didn't have the D300 then, or the 1.4 lens, so I have to credit my new spoils along with my new knowledge. It was tough shooting in concert lighting, but I had a great time, explored my camera's capabilities, and came out with some awesome pictures.

I love how you can just barely see Kendra's amazing shoes in this one. :o)

I seriously LOVED taking pictures of these two. They were so in love, so sweet, and pretty darn cute. I loved that they were willing to do anything, and they came up with a lot of their poses themselves. I like that, because then it fits their personality better. We started at 7:30 AM and had a blast!

"Let's pretend we're playing Twister!" This was the last pose we did before we ended the shoot. So cute!

Ah...this picture is so cute, and could her hair look any better with that gold water feature in the back? Seriously!

On the next one, I couldn't believe their spacing with the lines on the wall! Can you believe that? It's insanely perfect!!!!

I absolutely LOVED what they were wearing!

She is so gorgeous! I am excited to see her in her wedding gown next month!

Oh man, send those baby girls my way! I don't care how busy I am. I always have time to photograph a beautiful baby girl!

And do you LOVE the cocoon? My mom made it. YAY FOR MOMS! Deb found them on Etsy for not too cheap and we were both drooling over them! I figured out a way for my mom to make it using a knifty knitting loom. It's just a really long hat. :o) I'm excited to have it for my photography now. I'm going to make more colors. Actually, I think Spencer is going to make them. Thank goodness for the knifty knitter and how easy it is!!! :o) And thank goodness for my amazing husband who actually offered to learn. What a guy!

Alice and Amelia almost shared a middle name. Alice's name was going to be Alice Mae (both after my Grandma Latham) until we were on our way to the hospital, in labor. Lyn was a last minute change.

Here is a design I came up with today. I really love it. If you wanted one, it would go under "partial custom design". I can change the pinks and whites and the blue frame, but not the colors of the stars. I can also change the font or the text, or take away the swirly frame (for a boy).

I have to get more practice in with the large families...it's hard to position them. This is my favorite position from the shoot, but the baby was still sleeping at this point... :o) Plus, they put me in the fire (for my first big family shoot) by bringing the dog! It was tons of fun using my new lens for the first time, and they were all good to be around.

I just love that I figured out this color and edge edit. It is similar to one I saw on Dave and Auburn's blog (their family pictures), and I'm thrilled to have learned how to do it!
